J.D. Kleinke
Health Care Information Industry Pioneer
J.D. Kleinke is a health care information industry pioneer. He was a principal architect in the creation & rapid growth of HCIA / Solucient – now Truven Health Analytics – from a health care data start-up to a $500 million+ provider of information products around the world. He established and managed what would become Truven’s Pharma-Informatics and Pharmaceutical Research Units; in support of the company’s work, he authored numerous studies on the cost of medical innovation, pharmacoeconomics, and drug benefit design. After Truven, he helped establish HealthGrades, which he served as Executive Vice Chairman of the Board. He has also served on Business Advisory Boards for Merck and Medtronic and the Editorial Boards of Health Affairs and Managed Healthcare. Mr. Kleinke is the author of three books on the US health care system: Bleeding Edge: The Business of Health Care in the New Century; Oxymorons: The Myth of a US Health Care System; and the critically acclaimed Catching Babies, a medical novel about the training & culture of OB/GYNs, which is currently in development as a television series by Warners Bros TV and ABC.
